Thank you for this post, I often wonder why people aren't commenting on my post, I think am I too boring, you didn't like it. WHAT!. Then I realize that I read a lot of blogs but I don't comment that often either.

For me the most important thing right now is creating buzz and getting my name out there.

Thank you for the tip on the short url tracking.

I agree, I want to have some comments, and I use to get caught up in numbers and comments, etc. and will admit I still do at times, like this is a new site so the first thing I am looking for is comments :-)

But seeing these stats and the majority are like you as far as more reading and browsing vs. leaving comments has made me open up my eyes a bit. I should not be focusing on comments as much as whether or not my audience is returning, that they are happy with what they see, and they are happy with the interaction that we have.

I don't concern myself TOO much with comments for the following two reasons:

1. I read a lot of blog posts, but I don't comment on the majority of them myself. I only comment when I feel like I have something to add to the conversation.

2. I know that a lot of it has to do with regional issues (i.e. my NYC core audience is more likely to email me directly rather than leave a comment on a post.)

At the end of the day, as long as I'm communicating with my readers in some way, I'm good.
